The Florida Chapter of The ICA & CA with The Seaside Institute and Alys Beach Foundation are happy to report that the Lecture symposium highlighting Leon Krier’s book was a wonderful success. We had attendance from all over the Eastern Seaboard and beyond.
Friday Night we started with the kick off book signing and poolside reception. These were held at the wonderful Fonville Press and the Caliza Pool @ Alys Beach. What great architecture for such an event. All attendees were able to freely mingle and meet new friends and get reacquainted with old ones. We all enjoyed refreshments and fabulous hors d’oeuvres.
Saturday was open to enjoy all the TND neighborhoods in the 30A corridor. The late afternoon brought the lecture and symposium with full attendance! Dhiru and Leon delivered a great lecture with emphasis on their book, The Architecture of Community. This lecture was followed by a stimulating panel discussion with Leon, Dhiru and Robert Davis. The speakers were able to deliver a summary understanding of a comprehensive topic. You will not be able to put the book down.
Following the lecture event, Robert Davis made his spectacular Seaside home available for a wonderful dinner with many in attendance. This weekend was labeled, by our Master of Ceremonies, Braulio Casas, AIA, as “the inaugural kick off” of the Northwest Florida district. We look forward to future events with great anticipation.
