The Florida Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture / Classical America is proud to announce a (5 day/ 4 night) sketch & photography tour of select locations in Cuba. The intent of this tour will be both humanitarian & educational. During the trip, the participants will have the opportunity to sketch and photograph specific study locations. In addition, at select locations we will be accompanied by local historians & architects.

The Focus will be Havana with a few day trips to the surrounding towns. Havana is rich with a variety of Architectural styles ranging from Spanish Colonial, Baroque and Beaux Art. This trip promises to be a good introduction to the Islands’ sites, history and architecture. Additionally, this trip has a humanitarian component will provide much needed supplies and clothing for children at select church locations.

The Florida Chapter will always seek opportunities to provide such outreach when available. Following is a description of the financial requirements in order to make this event possible. This trip will be limited to the first 25 persons submitting deposits.

Pricing:
Under $2900.00 
We are currently establishing pricing. For single & double occupancy.
 

These prices include air fare from Miami to Havana and return flight. Also included will be lodging, select meals (Lunch & Diner) , travel via tour buses and contribution to the Florida Chapter ICA & CA with a single individual annual membership.  

Deposit & Deadlines:
500.00 deposit on or before February 26th
Remaining Balance due on or before March 26, 2010
Refundable cancelation date: April 16th, 2010

Day 1 - Wednesday - Miami/Havana 

  • Converge in Miami , Fl. (Miami International Airport)
  • Brief orientation
  • Depart Miami
  • Arrive in Havana
  • Stop at Hemingway’s house and lunch
  • Hotel check-in Parque Central
  • Free Time
  • Group Dinner @ La Dominique

Day 2 - Thursday - Havana  

  • Meet in Conference room for Breakfast and brief instruction
  • Tour of Old Havana – Part One – Meet Historian
  • Lunch at Hotel National
  • Tour of other parts of Havana including Miramar - with architect
  • Free time
  • Dinner on your own

Day 3 - Friday - Havana

  • Meet in Conference room for Breakfast 
  • Havana architect presentation
  • Travel to Morning Select study location
    • 90 minutes of sketching and painting
    • Prado Walk
    • Main City
    • Courtyard/Plazas
  • Lunch @ El Templete
  • Walk to Afternoon study location.
  • 90 minutes of sketching and painting

Day 4 - Saturday - Havana
